I posted a status on Facebook about this year's walk so hopefully the site gets more visitors!!

I am optimistic about getting to the $1000 goal! I have ideas on how to reach that goal, but I am always open to new ideas. If I can get a large enough team together to walk, I think I could get some businesses to donate money, possibly making t-shirts and putting their logos on it, and wearing them the day of the walk. Although donations are wonderful, and raising money is the main goal of the event, walking with the team means a lot!

For anyone who knows my mother, Carmel, knows how genuinely wonderful she is. She has been through a lot of trials in this life and has handled them with the upmost faith, patience, and grace. She has yet to let anything kick her down, including MS. She is a professor, and when not teaching, is doing research on how MS and other chronic illnesses affect young mothers; like it affected her (she has had MS since I was born but was not diagnosed until I was 11 years old). And although I do this walk (this is our 3rd year!!) for the sake of the hundreds of thousands of people that suffer from it, I have to admit my motivation is selfish - I do it for my mother. I am not naive and realize that it may be years and years before there is a cure. Possibly past both my mother's and my lifetime. But wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a cure found in our lifetimes? I am not a scientist or doctor, I don't have the potential to actually find the cure. Raising money, spreading awareness, and giving support to those with the disease is all I can do for now.

MS Walk 2010.

Happy 2010!! I realized yesterday that we are a little less than 2 months away from the Ogden 2010 MS Walk.

The walk will be held on April 10, at the Lorin Farr Park on Gramercy Ave, in downtown Ogden.

My goal for this year is to raise $1000. Last year we raised $250 and that was pretty much all last minute!!! With a head start we can do so much more!

Thanks to everyone who walked and donated this year!! I appreciate all your help and support. Hope to see you next year!

one day left!

Wahoo, tomorrow is the walk!

I have been told that rain or shine we will walk! Hopefully it doesn't pour! If you need to just walk the one mile portion I understand!

The walk will be held at :

Lorin Farr Park
1691 Gramercy Avenue

"Walkers will follow a route along the beautiful Ogden River Parkway and turn around at the Big D Sports Park.... The park is located along River Drive."

Time line:

The official program to kick off the walk starts at 9:45 a.m. Although check-in officially begins at 8 a.m., I don't think we will need to be there that early. I will probably try to be there around 8:45 or 9. I'm asking everyone else to be there sometime between 9 and 9:15.There will be a breakfast being served and if it's anything like the one in Cedar last year it will be worth coming for!

Check in usually takes about 15 minutes. This includes registering there, turning in your donations, getting free stuff (like odd cookbooks and drug company bags, ha it's fun), etc... So plan for time to eat

Rain is forecasted tomorrow so bring a sweatshirt or a rain jacket and make sure to wear tennis shoes.

The official color tomorrow is orange and our team's color is green! I've got a few beads and leis for everyone but if you have anything orange or green wear it! I'm making tee-shirts for everyone that has registered!

Call me or email me if you guys have any questions. Thanks so much for being willing to walk and for your donations. We are going to end up raising about $250. That's $250 that they MS society didn't have! Tomorrow is really just about coming together for a meaningful cause and to have fun! I know that both my mother, my family, and I are grateful to your support and help with all of this.

See you tomorrow!
