I posted a status on Facebook about this year's walk so hopefully the site gets more visitors!!

I am optimistic about getting to the $1000 goal! I have ideas on how to reach that goal, but I am always open to new ideas. If I can get a large enough team together to walk, I think I could get some businesses to donate money, possibly making t-shirts and putting their logos on it, and wearing them the day of the walk. Although donations are wonderful, and raising money is the main goal of the event, walking with the team means a lot!

For anyone who knows my mother, Carmel, knows how genuinely wonderful she is. She has been through a lot of trials in this life and has handled them with the upmost faith, patience, and grace. She has yet to let anything kick her down, including MS. She is a professor, and when not teaching, is doing research on how MS and other chronic illnesses affect young mothers; like it affected her (she has had MS since I was born but was not diagnosed until I was 11 years old). And although I do this walk (this is our 3rd year!!) for the sake of the hundreds of thousands of people that suffer from it, I have to admit my motivation is selfish - I do it for my mother. I am not naive and realize that it may be years and years before there is a cure. Possibly past both my mother's and my lifetime. But wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a cure found in our lifetimes? I am not a scientist or doctor, I don't have the potential to actually find the cure. Raising money, spreading awareness, and giving support to those with the disease is all I can do for now.
